Job Summary
Configure, install, maintain and troubleshoot complex local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) systems including multi-layer switching, routing, and wireless in an enterprise Cisco environment. Position requires advanced configuration and support of BGP, OSPF and EIGRP routing implementations, Cisco NX-OS, Cisco IOS-XE, Cisco IOS, Quality of Service, Access Control Lists, Nexus platform, Virtual Port Channels and Fabric Extenders, wireless LAN controller implementation, wireless survey tools.
Essential Functions
- Maintains within established levels, the technical performance of network systems supporting the CHS enterprise, which includes hospitals, medical office buildings, physician practices, administrative and financial offices, and all support facilities.
- Monitors system performance, makes recommendations, and takes appropriate action to insure the best performance per utilization of network resources.
- Supports the Cisco networking systems, working with multiple IS departments and vendors to provide stable and reliable network connectivity.
- Recommends and implements solutions, understanding the ramifications for problems within Information Services.
- Assumes leadership roles on projects and within team.
- Defines protocol for working with customers and appropriately balances needs and resources.
- Develops and implements process improvement initiatives within Information Services.
- Understands basic concepts of project management. Able to develop and execute project plans for network system implementations.
Physical Requirements
Work is subject to high-level visibility through exposure to CHS administration. Requires a high degree of proficiency in verbal and written communications. Must be available for callback support on a regular basis, extensive evening and weekend hours due to schedules at times for conversions, training required. Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
Education, Experience and Certifications
High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or job related field preferred. Cisco certification is strongly
preferred.
