This role is responsible for accounting, financial analysis, and reporting support for the Customer Services organization.
The analyst will work closely with the financial team to formulate and consolidate budgets, as well as track actual performance against those budgets throughout the year.
Good system and communication skills are required to analyze and research ad-hoc requests, develop reporting, and effectively present results for management review and decision making.
The candidate should act as a resource for technical/ functional support, financial guidance and as an assistant for all financial matters on behalf of business management.
Assignments will be broad in nature and require an understanding of financial principles, practices, internal controls and procedures.
Description of
Responsibilities:
Provide financial, accounting, and business management analytical support to various levels of management and customers
Evaluate and report business unit O&M and capital budget variances
Work with team to develop year-end/quarterly/monthly business unit O&M and capital projections
Support preparation of financial presentations for management review, cost/status reporting, and decision making
Generate reports, graphs and charts as requested using financial applications
Serve as a resource for technical/functional support, provide guidance and assistance for questions and problems related to financial business management
Maintain proper business and financial processes to ensure adherence to internal controls
Prepare accounting journal entries including accruals and corrections
Participate as a team member for various special projects or financial studies
Qualifications: Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or Business OR a Bachelor's degree in a similar discipline with prior work experience OR for existing employees who currently hold a position within the Finance organization and are applying to a lateral opportunity, comparable work experience in lieu of a degree
Minimum of 1-3 years of work experience in finance-related field (e.g., planning, analysis, budgeting and forecasting, or accounting)
Experience applying GAAP accounting principles
Demonstrated analytical/problem solving skills and business acumen
Ability to understand business operations and apply business acumen to identify issues and propose innovative solutions
Experience with financial applications, such as PeopleSoft FMIS or equivalent
Experience with query tools/applications, such as Business Objects or equivalent
Desired Qualifications
Master's degree in Accounting, Business or related field
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or similar certification or pursuing certification
Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to build effective relationships with customers
Self-motivated with the ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment Job: Finance and AccountingEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
