Must be able to walk up and down 6 flights of stairs once daily Must be able to lift and transport 40 pound boxes using carts Must be able to use a step ladder to shelve and reshelve 40 pound boxes Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures Ability to work independently and as part of a team Commitment to continual improvement in the ability to competently and respectfully work with people of diverse backgrounds Basic reading and writing skills Basic computer skills An interest in archival research Duties and Responsibilities We seek a part-time employee (20 hours/week) to assist with providing access to information in rare books and manuscripts while elevators are being renovated.
Responsibilities include scanning materials for researchers and conducting light research.
The successful candidate is comfortable walking up and down 6 flights of stairs once per shift and is able to lift 40 pound boxes.
(Carrying boxes up or down the stairs is not required).
No prior library or archival experience is required.
Scan materials to fulfill patron requests for copies Conduct light research with archives and manuscripts to answer specific research questions Deliver book materials to the Ground floor storage facilities at end of shift Other Work/Responsibilities Other duties may include collection management or archival processing tasks, including creating inventories, rehousing materials and checking physical holdings for condition.

However, any non-permanent employee hired to work 30 or more hours per week for three months or more (cumulative of all positions, and not designated as variable hour worker), must be offered the chance to enroll in the High Deductible Health Plan, within 30 days of their eligibility.
