Overview RTI International is an independent, nonprofit research institute dedicated to improving the human conditionOur vision is to address the world's most critical problems with science-based solutions in pursuit of a better futureClients rely on us to answer questions that demand an objective and multidisciplinary approach-one that integrates expertise across the social and laboratory sciences, engineering, and international developmentOur staff of nearly 6,000 works in more than 75 countries-tackling hundreds of projects each year to address complex social and scientific challenges on behalf of governments, businesses, foundations, universities, and other clients and partnersWe are currently seeking a Senior Vice President , for our Social, Statistical, and Environmental Sciences (SSES) business unitSSES performs a wide range of research and technical services focused on important public policy issues in health, environment, education, criminal justice, and social welfareOver 3,000 staff support more than 1,000 projects each yearThe SVP, SSES - Environment will provide strategic oversight and leadership to the Environment Practice within SSES and for the achievement of annual revenue and earningsThe Environment Practice is comprised of a multidisciplinary group of scientists, engineers, economists, and modelers who work together to protect the environment in a changing climateThere are four centers within this Practice:
Center for Water Resources, Center for Air Pollution Engineering and Greenhouse Gas Mitigation, Center for Applied Economics and Strategy, and the Center for Environmental Health, Risk, and SustainabilityAcross these centers, we provide clients with research and technical services to address air and water pollution, solid waste, water resources, food and agricultural economics, innovation economics, energy economics, climate analytics, climate resilience, environmental modeling, and risk assessmentResponsibilities Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:
Accountable for engaging in SSES-wide strategic planning and aligning practice area to strategyProvides clients with software and services for the entire data ecosystem, including issues of access, storage, management, integration, security, and governanceAlso provides clients with the ability to leverage their data as an asset by building and modernizing data (eco)systems to make them findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable, using best practices throughout the entire software development life cycleCollaborates with Strategic Account Executives to understand the emerging client needs and to share client experiences from projectsDevelop strategies to further influence market adoption of services in line with SSES-wide StrategiesPartners with SSES Leadership to inform market trends for practice areas, influence to drive strategy and long-term planningAdapts and aligns resources to large market/industry trends and changes (ExAdministration changes, pandemic, etc.) Inspires and creates a culture of innovation, quality, and client-centricityManages financial metricsEnsures Practice Area meets annual objectives including growth and metricsEngages with clients to ensure success of projects led from respective practice areaContribute to strategy due to external knowledge of trends and future changes in the marketParticipates in intellectual property evaluations and development of patent applicationsCoordinates interdepartmental activities and research effortsInteracts with the most senior levels of the organization to develop and deliver that accountabilityContributes across the organization in working with most senior managers on broad strategic and operational issuesProvides full strategic and operational oversight of the function and performance of the groups being managed, staying abreast of and leveraging new methodologies to advance the businessLeads the development of the function ensuring sufficient resources and needed skill sets are present to meet the needs of RTIFully responsible for identifying and implementing improvements in work processesManages staff through performance planning, development, and evaluation processEnsures staff development and career progressionEnsures practices in place to ensure/drive towards a high level of staff morale and retentionGuides promotion and succession processesAs a scientific/technical manager, may write and review proposals or portions of proposalsMentors staff in sameParticipates in business development activities including meetings with prospective clientsIdentifies strategic opportunities for function and works with business development to market these opportunitiesAs a scientific/technical manager, may write and review proposals or portions of proposals, lead or support appropriate part of complex projects, and mentor staff in project leadershipOversees the development, maintenance, and adherence to standard operating proceduresEnsures the professional credibility of the group function with internally and externally with key professional organizationsHelps to develop the scientific and/or professional stature of staffQualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and at least 20 years of experience, Master's degree and at least 16 years of experience, or a PhD and at least 12 years of experienceExperience in a contract research or professional services organizationAbility to respond to feedback from internal or external customers, regulatory agencies, and/or members of the business communityAbility to lead in a matrix organization environment with multiple clients and stakeholdersAbility to work in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environmentExperience communicating change effectively and to prepare and support those affected by changeProven track record of inspiring respect and trust; fostering quality focus in othersAbility to act decisively and assertively, including with disciplinary actionsDiplomatic and reasonable coaching and feedback skillsAbility to listen and communicate well both verbally and in writingExcellent time-management skills and ability to meet deadlinesAbility to identify and resolve problems in a proactive and timely mannerExcellent knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, ExcelAbility to travel throughout the year to domestic and international l0cations and stay in those locations as neededAbility to obtain proper security clearances as noted by contracts

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
