Program Assistant Education Law Program Council for Children's Rights (CFCR) is seeking a full-time Program Assistant to join its Education Law Program (ELP).
CFCR protects and advances the legal rights and development of children through individual representation and community education and by addressing community-wide issues through systems advocacy, research, and policy work.
ELP provides direct legal representation and works to address systemic issues to advance the education rights of students.
We seek a team member who is committed to addressing educational inequity and thrives in a collegial, dynamic team environment.
This individual will report to the Director of the Education Law Program and will have the primary responsibility of supporting ELP attorneys.
However, CFCR serves the needs of children across multiple legal systems, which requires a collaborative, cross-team approach.
Therefore, this individual will also provide support to the agency as a whole, as neededResponsibilities Include:
Welcoming all visitors to CFCR, and answering office phones.
Opening and closing all ELP files, and maintaining the overall organization of these files.
Requesting and obtaining records for clients.
Performing administrative tasks such as preparing and mailing correspondence, answering calls and emails, and scheduling meetings for ELP attorneys.
Inputting information into the CFCR database.
Assisting in the collection of data and confirmation of data accuracy.
Serving as an initial point of contact for referrals to our program.
Assisting in the coordination and implementation of ELP community outreach and training.
Contributing to the philanthropic activities of the organization, including, but not limited to, attendance at annual fundraising events.
Adhering to all CFCR policies and procedures.
Other duties and responsibilities, as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years legal administrative experience are preferred.
Must possess strong communication skills and the ability to work with adults and children from diverse backgrounds who are in crisis situations.
Bilingual applicants preferred.
Must have excellent organizational skills and computer/data-entry skills, including the ability to learn various case management systems.
Must be able to work effectively within the team structure of ELP, across programs in the agency, and as a participant in a culture of philanthropy.
Preference will be given to applicants who have a demonstrated commitment to public interest work.
Spanish-speaking applicants preferred.
Classification:
This is a full-time position with an annual salary of $39,000.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
