Cato, It's Fashion and Versona. The Company has over 1,300 stores throughout the United States and a diverse workforce of over 7,500 associates. The Company's stock is traded on the NYSE under the symbol CATO. Cato is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager. Responsibilities include:
Manage Payroll Department associates, including assessing ability levels and training requirements. Review and assess processes within the department to ensure that policies are followed, procedures are executed effectively and accurately, and make process improvement recommendations. Review monthly and bi-weekly payroll process results, as well as manual and special (e.g., bonus) check runs, for approval and accuracy. Learn to execute each type of payroll process from start to completion and effectively substitute for department associates in their absence. Review tax fillings (federal, state, local and city), with ability and experience to prepare all necessary files and documents in compliance with all taxing authority requirements, including quarterly and year-end documents. Review and analyze all General Ledger accounts associated with payroll. Determine and propose all necessary adjustments required for payroll-related transactions. Reconcile all General Ledger accounts associated with payroll activity and present for approval to the Assistant Controller. Review and maintain payroll procedures to comply with SOX requirements. Become and remain knowledgeable with all government statutes and regulations that affect payroll to ensure compliance. Ability to work together effectively with Human Resource associates. Interact with field management on opportunities and issues. Requirements:
10-15 years payroll experience, including processing multi-state / local payroll runs for large company Four-year college degree Superior supervisory and people skills. Strong analytical skills. Experience with multi-state payroll tax preparation and filing in compliance with Federal, state, city and local taxing authorities' requirements. Working knowledge and hands-on experience with a large ERP payroll system and related integration with general ledger and other applications.
Salary Range:
$200K -- $250K
Minimum Qualification
