Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Summary:
Packaging can be a powerful differentiator and competitive advantage for OCS and our Global customers. OCS is seeking a leader to construct and deploy a holistic packaging strategy that ensures we deliver low-cost packaging solutions that improve customer experience and reduce our carbon footprint. This packaging optimization approach will drive a balance between product quality, total cost of ownership, customer experience and sustainability. Packaging represents a significant opportunity for cost reduction and differentiation while at the same time advancing our sustainability journey and customer experience. Today, we spend in excess of $30M on packaging materials and $50M in freight while generating an estimated 150M kg CO2e annually. The right leader will build a foundational governance and defined priorities in the packaging ecosystem to achieve transformational cost reduction targets. OCS is looking for a passionate, hard-working, and talented leader in the packaging space to produce tangible outcomes for our customers and our business. Scope of Position:
Implementation and deployment of global packaging governance influencing design, customer ordering, manufacturing/logistics and sustainability. Create actionable roadmap and balanced packaging metrics to assure organization hits sustainability, cost and customer expectations Partner with external and internal resources to focus on optimizing linkages in matrixed organization (sustainability, logistics, technology, customer service) Deploy capabilities in packaging space to assure visibility and accountability throughout the lifecycle
Responsibilities:
Program Management - create, manage and drive a portfolio sub-projects to ensure the overall packaging strategy is executed Road mapping - collaboratively design & adapt multi-year roadmaps for packaging Develop model for packaging Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) across product life cycle Drive increase use of sustainable materials in our packaging designs and establish sustainability goals around reduce, reuse and recycle (3Rs) Partner with external market leaders to integrate industry emerging innovations into our packaging designs Oversee a successful change management effort for packaging across the enterprise Partner with distribution team to establish optimal forward and reverse logistics operations to manage life cycle and optimize TCO and Sustainability targets Lead and leverage the resources in the cross-functional team to aggressively achieve agreed upon business objectives Lead, manage and support strategic initiatives both across the enterprise and within packaging Travel Requirements:
Domestic and international travel expected. The amount of travel time will vary based on the program needs and the base location of the candidate. Required Education and
Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Packaging Science, Sustainability or equivalent discipline Experience in implementation of continuous improvements in Packaging field Experience in the management of complex, cross-functional, culturally diverse teams Minimum of 10 years total experience in supply chain, sustainability, and/or engineering with project management experience. Demonstrated high impact project management and ability to influence and manage change across a matrix organization Desired Education and
Experience:
MBA with a sustainability focus Minimum two years' work experience in at least two of the following areas:
Supply Chain, Engineering or Sustainability Demonstrated ability to drive change management and implement governance Demonstrated curiosity related to emerging trends in sustainability, industrial design and supply chain Demonstrated passion to collaborate to analyze problems and develop innovative solutions balanced across multiple metrics Required Skills:

Salary Range:
$150K -- $200K
Minimum Qualification
Supply Chain & LogisticsEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
