Summary Reporting to the Innovation and Development (I&D) Director for Rollstock, the individual is responsible for driving the I&D mission which includes the development and delivery of innovative, sustainable, robust, and cost effective product solutions in alignment with the corporate strategy. Responsibilities o Responsible for driving innovation projects forward through innovative polymer/material formulation and product feature creation to maximize customer and end user delight. o Drives new business, and technology opportunity, discovery efforts in partnership with business and technical experts and leadership. o Partners with key business and supply chain team members in pursuit of cost savings projects and raw material substitutions, quality issue resolution, and other business maintenance activities. o Responsible for all aspects of formulation and processing trials (lab, pilot, and production scale), communication with the appropriate operational personnel, and presenting results with management. o Monitors industry for available material and process technology opportunities both for existing projects, and future potential opportunities - including partnership or M&A. o Responsible for identifying and pursuing potential IP opportunities. o Responsible for identifying and pursuing potential environmental sustainability opportunities. o Partners with project management for monthly reporting, project expense tracking, timeline development and adherence. o Responsible for operating in a very collaborative, cross functional operating model on innovation projects. o Proactively coaches and mentors others in the organization. o Responsible for developing safety protocols for equipment together with Pilot Lab personnel o Responsible for partnering in transition of new product and process technology to the Supply Chain organization. Qualifications Basic
Qualifications:
o BS, MS, or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science & Engineering, or Materials Engineering o Industrial and/or research and development experience in polymer processing or chemistry preferred, 7-10 years minimum Additional
Qualifications:
o Strong practical knowledge of variety of polymers o Strong understanding of polymer / process / property interactions o Strong understanding of processes including polymer extrusion, web handling and converting o Strong knowledge of chemistry is a plus o Creative at innovative combinations of various processing equipment o Creative at identifying adjacent technologies and applying to Sealed Air markets o Evidence of operating collaboratively; continually seeks ideas and opportunities from others o Innovates via linking new ideas/concepts to new and existing business opportunities o Good judgment and decision making; able to courageously recommend future paths, including continuation OR halting a project. o Resourceful, pulls together the necessary tools, equipment and people, to get the job done.
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Industrial Engineering, Chemical EngineeringEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
