Position Description
Job Purpose:
As a Senior System Architect drives analysis, design and development of business processes, components and supporting functions based upon identified business requirements and use cases. Functions in teams with other technical and business professionals focused on building, maintaining and supporting solution frameworks for the Insurance industry. Responsible for providing high quality services on all project assignments.
Functional
Responsibilities:.
Has solid working experience in architecting solution design and integration leveraging existing channels and provide recommendations on utilizing new technologies.
Provide thought-leadership to fellow team members and the other project teams solving complex business requirements. This includes scope definition, requirements analysis, functional and technical design, application build, product configuration, unit testing, and UAT and production deployment and post production support.
Understand Best Practicing and Guardrails and promote them within organization.
Provide guidance the identification of enhancements to the core base products. Translates business requirements into design and functional builds, identify design patterns and present them to the team members and senior management.
Actively participate in the requirements, design and build phases; delivering high quality projects and products.
Assist with planning and execution of unit, integration and user acceptance testing. Assist and troubleshoot complex issues, work with application team and Vendor to resolve it.
Ensure delivered work meets/performs to technical and functional requirements by serving as a testing resource in both unit and user acceptance testing phases.
Write white papers on relevant methodologies, standards, best practices and technology recommendations for integration into the architecture framework.
Serve as subject matter expert in area of expertise. Work independently or with general directions on the most complex projects. Instruct, direct and check the work of less experience staff.
Demonstrate and promote Agile methodologies

Position Requirements
Qualifications:
Advanced competency is required in the majority of these areas:
BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering
Minimum 6 years experience, average 6-9 years of experience in J2EE platform (JSP, Servlets, EJB, XML, JDBC, Java, Web Services)
Good understanding and knowledge in integrating BPM Applications with external systems on various platforms.
Strong knowledge and experience in UDB, Oracle, SQL Server, DB2
Strong Object Oriented Analysis and Design (UML)
Strong understanding of security concepts, knowledge in LDAP, Site Minder
Knowledge in Operating Systems (specifically Windows, Linux, AIX, Solaris, zOs)
Knowledge in Interfaces and communications (specifically SOAP, MQ, JMS), working experience with Pega's Agents and Listeners
Understanding and working experience of ACCORD Insurance Framework
Experience in IBM Websphere Process Server
Data Warehousing/Cognos Reporting/ETL utilizing Abinitio
Working experience with Business Rules Engine processing
Desired Skills: PRPC 6.x SSA Certification, working experience in designing and developing utilizing PRPC 5.5, 6.x and Frameworks (CPM, IAC, BIX, Case Management) is a plus
Understanding of mobile technologies is a plus
