The Nuclear Performance Improvement Specialist position is responsible for the line organization's implementation of the Performance Improvement Programs including the Corrective Action Program, Operating Experience Program, Self-Assessment/Benchmarking Programs, Trending, and Performance Indicators / Monitoring Programs. The Performance Improvement Specialist serves as the unit or section Performance Improvement Program point of contact and subject matter expert. The Performance Improvement Specialist position acts as a direct representative of the unit or section manager and advocates solutions to correct problems identified. The Performance Improvement Specialist is a position that seeks to identify gaps in performance such as plant or operating standards, human performance, and programmatic issues to find innovative solutions. The position is expected to work with site and corporate peers in accordance with the Duke fleet operating model and will support various fleet working groups as requested.
Site positions may be expected to fulfill an outage and/or emergency response role as established by site management. RESPONSIBILITIES and Duties: % of Time Performed Major responsibilities and specific job duties
80 Perform daily review, classification, assignment, and trending of condition reports within the corrective action program(s) . Verify quality and completeness of the organization's investigation and corrective action assignments IAW fleet standards.
Conduct trending and analysis of organizational performance including facilitating organizational Roll-up Meetings and development of the unit or section trend reports.
10 Administer the General Office Performance Improvement Oversight Committee (PIOC)
Develop Self-Assessment and Benchmarking schedules Depending upon the desired qualifications of the successful candidate, the hiring manager may elect to fill this position at a higher level within the job hierarchy.
Qualifications: Basic Qualifications
Position requires a Bachelor's degree.
HS Diploma with five years of like-work experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
Years of prior work related experience in addition to a degree: 3 years
Job-specific knowledge, skills or abilities :
Demonstrated capabilities to act as a member of a high performance team and communicate with impact while meeting team milestones and objectives.
Demonstrated capabilities in the evaluation of events/conditions with sufficient experience to identify conditions applicable to Duke nuclear plants.
Ability to qualify as Performance Improvement Coordinator and Apparent Cause Evaluator within 6 months of date of hire. Proven technical report writing skills and ability to communicate with senior levels of management. Familiarity with the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations Performance Improvement practices
Ability to multi-task and manage daily priorities
Desired Qualifications
Experience with Microsoft office, Consolidated Asset Suite software, Duke Energy Problem Identification Program software, databases, and other business applications
Experience in a technical function in a nuclear power plant or corporate office such as performance improvement or quality assurance
Experience in coordination / administration of a nuclear corrective action program is highly desired.
Knowledge of investigative techniques such as Root and Apparent Cause Analysis, Fault Tree, and Analytical Trouble-shooting Job: GenerationEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
